For a few days I forgot I was trying
And it was beautiful. I think
I didn’t know

Sometimes you say things
No one understands
Even you. Especially you

I love you for that
And now you are dead
And I love you equally
You taught me some rewards
Come from a great deal of thinking
And some do not
But there is a third. Something later
That love is endless
When viewed from a moving car
Like all this Iowa corn
And for that I love you
Dead or alive John Ashbury

The electric cocktail dresses
That hold it all together
Indulging revisionist compulsions
Working the freedom weights
What to do with the other 23 hours

Share and share differently
Everyday, please…
While begging for fish sticks
Hearing of nuclear winters
Or paddle boating in September
Acrosss warm sheets of glass.
When remembering and noting
Reflecting on the past
And how important it was or is
Now…

Sexy not sexy.
Remember September

I’m burning, burning up
With totally even keeld
Contentment.

I am filled with mad passion
For the perfect balance
Of the needs of others
And mine

I have a powerful powerfulthirst
To feel pain only
To extent that it
Prevents me
From causing pain to others

I live on a mountain
Beneath the sea
Surrounded by space
Filled with nothing but time

Want a cup cake?
Please ask for assistance.

Show Poem: September 2, 2017 Des Moines, IA @ Vaudeville Mews #poetry

Hear the insects call
Defy this disappointing world

Cream colored walls
Guitar strings on a piano bench
My Buddy on the music stand
I have legs
I smell something
Something cooking
Never understanding
When to stop talking
Seeing others getting tired
Exhaling
Looking down
But still cannot stop talking

Staking a claim
In the Whole Foods parking lot
Waiting for the mood to pass
It was the man by the guacamole
The long wait for the express lane
Remember the young
Trump supporters we saw
The last time we were here?
We smiled with condescending hearts.
We stared from the corners
Of our eyes

The only true freak is a killer
We make them here
We dangle love
Like a pork chop on a string
They steal bites
When we think no one is looking
