Show Poem: September 6, 2017 Hamtramk, MI @ Trixie’s #poetry

Wicker sun on the wall
Scotch tape moon
David Bowie picture
With a knife in front of it
Love is not power
Love is not power
Love is not power
Love is not power.
It’s so much better.
But not all at once.

Mermaids will never make love to you
When in need of a pinch of pepper.
Salt castle will appear

Amoebas on the ceiling.
Or are they paramecium?
Or spermatozoa don’t ya know a-

School is in session
An in flux of beer and vegetables
Everybody touching themselves in public

I have see better clouds in person
Than I could ever have imagined
In my entire life

There is an art to making art
Where it hangs
What kind of beverage you drink
While sitting in front of it

Life is what happens between hurricanes now. An ocean full of stomachs.
A stomach full of beer.
A beer full of ocean.

Thumbnail sunrise
Talking is taking sometimes
Fat cats on the walls
Local things I don’t understand

Show Poem: September 5, 2017 Lansing, MI @ The Fledge #poetry

Talk of death over muffins
Overcoming the unfortunate
Political associations of
Taco bowls at Macho Mas

Not waiting for inspiration
I will inspire. Then I wait…

Standing here at life’s grand ledge
Pineapple dreams
Luxury in flux
Every imperfection is a diamond
Waiting to be cut out

Is it too early to touch you
My favorite is the no hands style
Where I sleep another hour
And you stop waking me up
With your breathing.

The writing is on the wall
Until it’s painted over
And someone writea on top of that
And then someone hangs a
Pairing over the writing

Staring at the chair
Sitting on a work of art

A TV in every pot
No one cares about tv any more
People care about the dance
The dance in everything
Everything is about the dance
There is a dance in every little thing

Show Poem: September 4, 2017 Michigan City, IN @ Quality Beet #poetry

For a few days I forgot I was trying
And it was beautiful. I think
I didn’t know

Sometimes you say things
No one understands
Even you. Especially you

I love you for that
And now you are dead
And I love you equally
You taught me some rewards
Come from a great deal of thinking
And some do not
But there is a third. Something later
That love is endless
When viewed from a moving car
Like all this Iowa corn
And for that I love you
Dead or alive John Ashbury

The electric cocktail dresses
That hold it all together
Indulging revisionist compulsions
Working the freedom weights
What to do with the other 23 hours
