Show Poem… Hello Yes It is you that I’m looking for (for Nan) /Sept 12 / Replay Lounge Lawrence, KS #poetry

Untitled
I am the dark and you are the light
The light of my life

Like a fine wine
Getting better with age
Or a not so fine wine
Sprucing up a pizza on a Tuesday night
Intoxicating me
In so any ways
You help me see things
Differently

My straight thoughts are crooked
My crooked thoughts
Are Twisted
Deeper and deeper
Sinking smiling teeth
Into a rich and fertile soil
As though the dirt
We’re made of chocolate

Pine cone sap on my finger tips
The smell of early Autumn
Stretching and softening
Devouring all things green

A fountain of youth
Forever discovering
Crawling on hands and knees
Like a sweet and happy baby

Silver pink sparkles
A passionate girl
But unmistakably
All woman

I’m so psyched to be
Chilling with you still
After so many years
Sometimes it feels
Like a blink of an eye

Jamming in context studios
On ave A

Flying across the world

You lost your shit and screamed at the doctors to give me antibiotics
When I almost passed out in line at the clinic for my ear infection

The road has not always been smooth

When the chips are down
You are the one that I want
By my side
Dancing in the dark

The wind beneath my wings
The feet beneath my words

Hello
Yes
It is you that I’m looking for

Show Poem: A place for anger… July 31 / Kansas City, MO / Harling’s Upstiars #SchwervonPoetry

Beat to a pulp by sputtering
kick drums
Electronically enhanced
By years of
neglected adolescence

Staring at the front row tits
Burning away my conscience

We are family
Beneath a flag of
Energy drinks
And Bob Marley T-shirts

Our fight has been brought
Parameters defined
Encircling circle pit
Flailing arms
Just like I saw this other
Scary guy do

A clear and present danger
A place for anger
A place for fear
A place for pierced love
And tattooed affection

Death by 1000 screamos
A life giving farce
Sun burned eyes
Stare into the speakers
Compressed to their maximum

Bodies bent and bowing
At the alter of the bass.

We battle subtlety
And the little things
Nothing is worthy unless
It is worthy of crying over

Shaking our fists at the air
None of us are free of
The popularity curse
Facial caps and baseball hair

We are young
Pink and roasting in the sun

Show Poem: Look inside the light and Don’t forget your sunglasses… July 11/ Cincinnati, OH / The Comet #SchwervonPoetry

No pets allowd
At the welcome center

You could tell by the way
She folded her arms
She’s was box office poison
A gal from the sticks
With a heart of oak
And a wooden smile to match

There’s something a
Little too sensual about
The mouth feel of this candy

Do you have any idea
How many times you’ve
Said the f word over the course
If this conversation?

Peeing makes me have to pee
The hospital made me sicker
Engenieering a longer lasting flavor
The shortest distance between
Two pains

The long lost art of
Practicing delayed gratification

Brushing off demons  with
The soft catlike hair
Of an old man

Making love to a wall
That beats me every night

We all lace up our diamond
Encrusted cat skinned
Girdle the same way
One soggy cornflake
Soaked moustache at a time

Look inside the light and
Don’t forget your sunglasses

Watching the numbers rise
Spin out of control

Hell is for real
And it’s full of people
Who feel the need to
Advertise it’s existence
On billboards from the
Side of the highway

Beans in a bowl
A relatable stranger
It’s the little things
This is not fun
This is not supposed to be fun
