Mostly Germany Tour Update 2013 (week 2)

After Regensburg we had a great show in Munich at Sudstadt. It was kind of like a homecoming for us because we played there last year with Jenny Lund and this time it was just Jan solo from Jenny Lund. We said goodbye to Bavaria and it was off to Vienna. In Vienna we stayed with our old friend Steffko. We went to a good Vietnamese food place but we passed on the crispy Darm.
What we didn’t pass on was the late night cheesy dog, which seems to be some kind of specialty in Vienna. Yummy! Ouch! The next night was a show in Martigny, Switzerland. A beautiful mountain town where we reunited with a great band called Monoski. About 5 years a go we played a show with them in Brooklyn. It was great to play with them again after all these years.Next we were back in Komteri, Tobel. Kind of dreamland for us. We played a great show in the old prison and had a nice day walking around and looking at the beautiful countryside.This is Kim the daughter of our friends Tom and Alice in Tobel.
Next stop Zurich! We played Bosch Bar again! And got to see our friends Caro and Ursina. Word on the street is that the door artwork was done by our pal Toby Goodshank!

Texas sized Croissont! The next show was our only show in France in a town called Strasbourg. They made this amazing poster. Everyone was so nice. It made us think that maybe we need to play more shows in France next time.The next show was our return to Wetzlar at the Franzis. They have a nice big mirror in the back stage there so we could get pretty before the show!What’s not to love about German breakfast.After breakfast we took a nice long walk with our friend Sigmar and Samson the Wolf Hound of Wetzlar. The last 2 nights we played in Offenbach and Darmstadt with our friend Alex’s band Mine.
Thanks to everyone who keeps coming out to the shows. This week, after several years, we are back in Belgium for 3 shows as well as more shows in Western Germany!

“Landlocked” single release on Too Much Rock!

Hey folks. We’re touring in Europe right now so it’s a little bit hard to know exactly what time it is in the states but according to our calendars, here, tomorrow is the official release of our latest single on the newly birthed Too Much Rock record label thingy. We’re very excited and proud about how the song turned out as well as the fact that it’s our first recording since moving to Kansas! You can learn a little more about how this whole thing came together from this excellent entry on the Riot On the Plaza Blog. We’ll be celebrating it’s release with a free, all ages, show at Mills Records on Saturday December 7th with one our favorite local bands Lazy.

Week #2,3: Mannheim, Regensburg, Gunzenhausen, Tobel, Zurich, Wetzler, Darmstadt, Cologne, Bremen

Wow! Blau in Mannheim was really great. Nice little crowd. Great vegan restaurant accross the street. What more could you ask. Cool pic here by our pal Tommy who put us on there last time.

Next stop Regensburg where we get to play the first of two shows in a row with the great Jenny Lund. Wonderful to share the stage with these guys and see Driver Klaus in action on the bass. Stay tuned for the new Nan and Drummer Lud Dub side project with the first single Fleisch For Fantasy. The next night we also played with Jenny Lund in the beautiful town of Gunzenhausen. We were hosted by Markus of the great band Sutcliff at his bar Caymen. We had some very special cocktails (or as they call them in Germany “Long Drinks.”) So tasty, wish we could have drank them longer.Next stop, the beautiful and mysterious city of Tobel, Switzeland. We played at the Komteuri (an old prison, now converted into an arts space and Pilgram guesthouse.) Stay tuned for a possible summer festival in 2012. Here we also had the best stage design ever thanks to our freinds Tom and Ursina.After Tobel it was off to Zurich where I had so much fun I forgot to take a picture. So, here’s a picture of the shy cat of Tobel.Then it was back to Germany, where we were reunited with our great friends Sigmar and Michaela. We also got to meet their very happy turtle: Charlene.Darmstadt, was next where it was wonderful to see our good friends Woog Riots and Alex and Torsten of Mine. We were back at the Oetinger Villa. The backstage ceiling there was very trippy so I had to take photo. It kind of reminded me, a little, of an Arshile Gorky painting. Our old friend Thomas in Cologne now owns a bar called the Hanging Garden. We played a free show there that was really great. Here’s a pic of Thomas, Matt and Andy (driver) sporting their special sexy looks.And last night it was back in Bremen at the wonderful Spedition.Here’s our morning after shot.
